Mobility specialists work within organizations to ensure that individuals in need of mobility solutions are connected to the best solutions available in a community to meet their needs.
The National Cooperative Highway Research Program commissioned a report; The “A Guide to Successful Mobility Management Practices in Small Urban and Rural Areas”. In this report they outline the importance of Mobility Management in the following way: “Mobility management is a term that has come to represent a formal definition of a transportation strategy that focuses more on the customer and their needs, and the meeting of these needs through the coordinated use of a variety of providers. Mobility management is an evolving concept that aims to improve specialized transportation, particularly for veterans, older adults, people with disabilities, and individuals with lower incomes through a range of activities. These activities look beyond a single transportation service or solution to a “family of services” philosophy that can offer a wide range of services and options to meet an equally wide array of community demographics and needs”.
Mobility specialists work within organizations to ensure that individuals in need of mobility solutions are connected to the best solutions available in a community to meet their needs. Aequitas Mobility Services utilizes a mobility specialist to work with individuals that need a personal approach to determining their mobility needs. Individual mobility needs will vary from person to person.
Some examples of how a mobility specialist can work with you or your organization:
- Develop an individual mobility plan for an individual based on their needs.
- Refer individuals to transportation services based on their needs and eligibility.
- On-site demonstration of the Shotl Mobile Application.
- Scheduling riders who do not have access to a smart phone.
- Working with employers and organizations to schedule rides for their employees or participants.
